In 2018, the Town of Clay was designated a Clean Energy Community by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), recognizing its leadership in reducing energy use, cutting costs, and driving clean energy locally. The

Town continues to support clean energy and sustainability strategies and has recently been named a 1-Star Designated Clean Energy Community (a step above).
