Marriage Licenses

Appointments are strongly recommended to obtain a marriage license, due to the lengthy process. Please contact the Town Clerk's office to schedule an appointment.

Walk-ins for marriage licenses will not be accepted after 3:45 P.M.

Fee for marriage license is $40.00 (cash, check or credit card).

• Both parties must be present.
• Anyone previously married must furnish a copy of ALL divorce papers.
• A current driver's license or passport and a birth certificate are required. Birth certificate or divorce papers must be original or certified copies with raised seal. Additional forms of identification are a passport, military I.D. or employer's photo ID, in addition to the birth certificate.

To obtain a certified copy or transcript of a marriage license that was filed with the Town of Clay, the fee is $10.00 (cash, check or credit card). Proof of identification must be presented to acquire said documents.
