Highway

No parking on town roads from November 1st – April 1st, between midnight and 8am.

Any vehicle parked during those hours will be towed to allow for plowing to continue.

For violations residents can contact the sheriff during those hours for the situation to be handled.

All basketball hoops need to be off and away from the road. The Town is not responsible for fixing or repairing if they are hit by a plow.

Please put trash cans and recycling bins in driveways and not in the road.

Mailboxes: Only 4x4 wooden posts and metal boxes will be replaced. Please contact the highway department if hit by a snowplow.

Plastic or any other type will be temporarily fixed or a temp will be placed but it will be the residents responsibility to fix in the spring.

DOT Notice: Caughdenoy Road Bridge Repair

ONONDAGA COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION TO BEGIN CAUGHDENOY ROAD BRIDGE REPAIR: 


The Onondaga County Department of Transportation will conduct bridge repair work on Caughdenoy Road over Youngs Creek in the Town of Clay. The project is located on Caughdenoy Road between Verplank Road and Mud Mill Road, approximately 1.5 miles north of NYS Route 31.


Contract forces will be setting up a work zone beginning Monday, September 15, 2025. An offsite detour route will be utilized. Motorists are asked to follow the marked detour during the closure.


As with any highway project, the Onondaga County Department of Transportation encourages motorists to plan ahead for potential delays and to consider alternate routes, if possible. We respectfully ask the traveling public to please reduce speeds in work zones, use caution, and be mindful of construction workers and equipment.
This project is expected to be completed by the end of the 2025 construction season.

Blue Bins - One Per Household

For a blue bin, please visit our Highway Department during open hours.

You may pick up one blue bin, per household. Proof of Clay residency is required.

Yard Waste Recycling Center

Reminder: The Town of Clay offers a yard waste recycling center located on Oak Orchard Road, one mile east of the intersection of Henry Clay Blvd. The site will be open the second Saturday of each month from April - November, 8am til noon. Town of Clay residents may drop off (free of charge) yard waste such as leaves, grass clippings, shrubs, trees (including stumps), and concrete.

Please NO plastic pots or plastic packaging of any kind, including retail bags or plastic trash bags. If you bring any material in plastic, please be prepared to take it with you.

District 1 & 6 Brush Collection

Leaf Pick-up for District 1 & 6 only is held twice each year as follows: The first three (3) days in May and October. Please have your yard debris at the roadside on Sunday evening of those weeks for pick-up. Both loose and bagged leaves will be picked up by the Highway Department once during this time. Please contact the Highway Department if you have any questions. Thank you for your cooperation.
