Town of Clay Town Hall to Glow Green in Honor of Veterans

Town of Clay Town Hall to Glow Green in Honor of Veterans

Clay, NY — The Town of Clay is proud to announce that Town Hall will be illuminated in green this Veterans Day to honor and recognize the brave men and women who have served our nation in uniform.

As part of the national “Operation Green Light” initiative, the Town of Clay will join communities across the country in showing visible support for America’s veterans. The Town Hall building will glow green, serving as a symbol of appreciation for the sacrifices made by veterans and their families.

Lighting Town Hall in green is a small but meaningful gesture to express our gratitude to those who have served. We want every veteran in our community to know that their service is valued, remembered, and honored—not just on Veterans Day, but every day.

The Town of Clay invites residents and local businesses to participate by changing one light to green—whether on a porch, in a window, or at a storefront—to show support for those who have served.

2026 PRELIMINARY BUDGET MESSAGE

The Preliminary Budget for general and highway purposes totals $20.3 million.

As proposed, the tax rate for Town residents will increase 1.51% or $1.05 per thousand of assessed value.  This is $5.66 for a home valued at $225,000.  Total spending is $1.9 million greater or 4.47% over the adopted budget for 2025.  The increase is due to necessary contractual expenditures including a roof for the Highway Garage, additions to the Planning Dept., Road Paving and a significant increase in New York State Retirement.

The Town is continuing its effort to provide preventative road repair as a more efficient method for maintaining roads. The 2026 budget includes a total appropriation for paving of $2.5 million.

The Town has been and will continue to be proactive in securing grant funding for various projects throughout Clay.  Some of the upcoming grants include:

  • Three Rivers - BOA Pre-development Project
